Shofuku Ji Temple - its importance lies in being the first Zen Temple that has knowledge in Japan. It was built by the funndador of the sect Zen, Eisai, in 1995. Near the temple there is a set of buildings, such as Jotenji and Tochoji. There are also traces of what were traditional houses of that time. As a whole creates an atmosphere full of serenity. In its early days was the Temple of the feudal Lord Nagamasa Kuroda. It contains the tombs of descendants of Kuroda and his successor: Shimai Soshitsu, one of the three famous Heroes of Hakata. The Sanmon gate of Sofukuji Temple was moved from Fukuoka Castle in 1918. To visit the temple used the subway to Gion station or bus stop of Oku-no-do.
Billet-Ji Temple was founded in 806 by Taishi Kobo, Temple conveys the feeling of having been a site of great activity, both religious and commercial. At the entrance to the temple, you will find the statue of the great Buddha. There are also the tombs of the Lords of the Kuroda clan and examples of calligraphy (Shoso) of the Sendai artist. There sits the statue of the God of the mercy of a hundred hands (listed as an important historical and artistic legacy in Japan), and some examples of calligraphy of the founder of the temple: Taishi Kobo. To visit the temple used the subway to Gion station or the bus to Gion-machi stop. The temple is open every day of the week.
Sumiyoshi Temple considered as the origin of the temples dedicated to Sumiyoshi Taisha. Later created more temples to Sumiyoshi throughout the country. It’s a traditional architecture Shinto different from Buddhist architecture, detail which can be seen especially on its cover. It has been designated as a Cultural legacy in Japan. There are many believers who come from all points of Japan to visit the temple. Throughout the year take place here celebrations where devotees come in pilgrimage and as an act of gratitude for favors granted. I may not be one of the most known temples visited by tourists from travel in Japan, but it is one of the most beautiful. To visit the temple you can use the Nishitetsu bus stop in Sumiyoshi.
