Hida Takayama city retains its old atmosphere, which can be seen in the streets, full of history, with its churches and merchant houses, roofs with eaves bound and covered with lattice windows, historical shrines of Higashiyama, farmers in villages Hida Mountains.

The Takayama Festival, held in spring and autumn San-Machi Suji is the old town of Takayama City, with older buildings and a quaint atmosphere. Its three main streets are narrow and full of shops of traditional, artisan shops, inns and distilleries marked by a ball of cedar leaves hanging outside.

Are also local restaurants, small museums in which the building is as interesting as the collections displayed inside and stores where you can see the tall floats used during local festivals. Takayama morning markets and Miyagawa Jinya take place daily from 7:00 until noon.

Here women come from nearby farms to bring fresh produce, vegetables and flowers. Some points of cultural interest, as of Kusakabe Heritage House and Heritage House of Yoshijima are in the area of the Tomb of Sakurayama Hachimangi, along rivers and Miyagawa Enakogawa Kitayama and Mt. The area has a historic and peaceful atmosphere, with Park Kitayama and beautiful seasonal flowers. At the top of Mount Matsukura are the ruins of Castle Matsukura.

From here you can enjoy a panoramic view of Takayama and the Japanese Alps.
