Until 2004, Ueno was a Japanese city (yes, there is a district in Tokyo that name), but after that year it joined with several neighboring villages and towns and was born a new city called Iga. Iga is the name of the old province covering part of the present and now Mie Prefecture Iga Ueno tells this part of the country, precisely to avoid creating confusion with the district of the same name of the capital.
There is something to Iga Ueno is famous: the ninja. At other times, I’m talking about the Japanese feudal era, it worked here one of the best schools in the country Ninja: Iga School (the other school Koga, Shiga Prefecture was). The museum is housed in a typical ninja residence in those houses with walls that move labyrinth, floor traps and secret chambers. The signs of each case are in Japanese and English and the brochure of the museum you can apply in the administration. Yes, the shows are only in Japanese but do not understand much nihongo to know what they are.
