Teshima Island

The Seto Inland Sea and Seto Naikai is the body of water separating the islands of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, three of the main islands that make up the Japanese archipelago. Connects the Pacific Ocean with the Sea of Japan and connects to Osaka Bay and all industrial ports of Kobe and Osaka as well.

Internal Sea measuring 450 km long from east to west and most of its surface waters are quite calm. The coastal zone is one of the most important tourist destinations of the country because his views are great and the sea have about 3 thousand islands, some large and inhabited, others small and uninhabited.

But Teshima not want to end up empty and has been making efforts to revitalize itself and become a travel destination. For it points to contemporary art and so the island is one of the seven sites Setouchi Art Festival (started July 19 and ends next October 31). During these months, several artists have used the island to erect their works, both inside the home and outdoors.

The prinicipal based art exhibition is the Museum of Art Teshima but not open until 17 October this year but then remain open forever, even after the end of the festival. During the event there are free buses around the island every 40 minutes in both directions, stopping at the sights along the route.

You can also rent a bike or walk if you like it and thus overcome the distance between the islands. A typical Japanese island, away from noise and close to nature.
